The Rockettes

The Rockettes are a precision dance company founded in 1925, and are still very famous today.  They’re known for their grand kicklines and intricate tap dancing, as well as their visual creativity.  Their primary styles of dance are musical theatre and tap, but they must have a strong ballet training.  The Rockettes always strive to be sharp and in perfect unison with each other, and they require their dancers to be exactly between 5’6″ and 5′ 10 1/2″ tall.  They perform at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, NY, and in 2015 they started a touring company.  Their classy and timeless musical theatre style continues to be well known by many.

Misty Copeland

Misty Copeland made history as the first African American female principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre, one of the three leading classical ballet companies in the United States.  Copeland is admired by may for her adversity in achieving this position, and is an worldwide inspiration for dancers.  She wrote a Ney York Times Bestseller memoir titled Life in Motion: An Ulikely Ballerina.  Copeland has also helped write/illustrate a children’s book after her famous role in the ballet Firebird, and recently wrote a book titled Ballerina Body: Dancing and Eating Your Way to a Leaner, Stronger, and More Graceful You.  She has starred in a movie that documents her life called A Balerina’s Tale.  Copeland inspires dancers everywhere to take chances, and to believe in themselves even when no one else does.

Derek and Julianne Hough

Derek and Julianne are siblings and professional ballroom dancers from Utah.  They have three older sisters, but the two are particularly close for their love of dance they inherited from all four of their grandparents.  Derek has won a record of six seasons as a professional on Dancing with the Stars, and has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for his choreography on the show.  He also has appeared in many film productions, and now is a judge on NBC’s World of Dance.  Dancing with the Stars.  She was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography, and her first lead acting role was in the 2011 remake of Footlosse.  She now is a permanent judge on Dancing With the Stars.
